«Braga dismiss Jesus exit rumours
Portuguese coach not pondering move
Sporting Braga has come out denying that head coach Jorge Jesus is planning on leaving the club at the end of the season. The Portuguese tactician has been linked with a move to either FC Porto or Sporting, but the minhoto side and Jesus himself have quashed any such allegations.
Jesus has been a revelation with the Arsenalistas as the former Belenenses coach brought Braga to the Round of Sixteen in the Uefa Cup and currently has the team sitting in 4th place in the Liga Sagres table.
Coupled with the facts that Porto have yet to renew Jesulado Ferreira’s contract and Paulo Bento has admitted that he will be leaving Sporting at the end of the season, Jesus has been hand-picked by the Portuguese media as one of the two’s successor.
Braga executive Carlos Freitas has slammed reports citing the Jesus will remain with the club, unless an irrecusably offer were to come their way, "Jorge Jesus has one more year left on his contract and he would only leave if the offer would properly compensate us.”
“When we opted to go with Jesus, it was based on the set of principles he demonstrated with other clubs: presenting a well-organised, defensive team and a patented irreverence. We are satisfied with his work,” Freitas told Antena 1.
As for the man in question himself, Jesus alleviated any anxieties that the news may have caused by reaffirming that he is staying put and not going anywhere, “my future is with Braga. I have been treated very well by the club and its supporters.”»
